About Us

Welcome to our website. We are a newly organized Florida Chapter and are looking forward to growing in our mission. Please enjoy learning about Daughters of the American Colonists and visit us on Facebook!

Our name was chosen as a tribute to Lt. James Hancock who was born c. 1725 in Craven County, North Carolina. He served with honor in the Regiment of Craven County and earned the rank of Lieutenant in January 1755 in the Colonial Army. James Hancock’s ancestor William Hancock came to this country in the 1620 in search of lumber for his ships and was part of the Berkley 100 of Jamestowne, VA.
